Ed Grisamore has written more than 1,600 columns for The Macon Telegraph over the past eight years. During that time, he has gathered some of his favorites together in three collections of columns - "True Gris" (1997), "More Gris" (2001) and "Smack Dab in Dog Crossing" (2005).

Grisamore's latest offering is something entirely new - an audio book. "Gris & That" has him reading some of those classic columns during his newspaper career in Macon.

The 16-column collection includes personal stories about marriage, parenthood and some of the saints in his life. He takes us to an old fishing hole and under the "Tree of Knowledge.'' Grisamore tells us why he drives a mini-van, why he loves old records and why Macon's annual Cherry Blossom Festival is one of his favorite times of the year. He attends the funeral of a couple who were married for 77 years and died on the same day. He interviews a family with a dog that answers the telephone.

Grisamore said he has come to understand the power of the written word. But, over the past few years, he has watched his words take on a new life when he began doing commentary for Georgia Public Radio's "Georgia Gazette."

A graduate of the University of Georgia's journalism school, Grisamore is the author of five books and has won more than 40 writing awards. He was listed in "Who's Who Among Georgia Newspaper Columnists" by Georgia Trend magazine.

Ed and familyHe lives in Macon with his wife, Delinda, and three sons - Ed, Grant and Jake. He is a member of First Baptist Church. He teaches creating writing at Midsummer Macon and a class in writing autobiographies for senior citizens.

He is currently working on a history book about Macon scheduled to be released in Fall 2006.
